Yeeeee Haaaaaa!

Only in America!

Today I took my whole family to a Demolition Derby at the National Peanut Festival. It was so good. First, we got in for only $5 each because they were honoring military service members. That's cool! Next, in traditional 'State Fair' style the announcer brought up how we in the south had not forgotten those who died on 9-11. The whole crowd cheered and roared as he spoke louder and louder about our love of country. That brought in a local hero to sing the National Anthem. With the Anthem and it's cheers out of the way the crescendo was the sound of beat up cars, with souped up engines, ready to SMASH into each other. The whole crowd counted 5-4-3-2-1 and the loud engines, mud flying excitement was on. The drivers and their cars were animated and funny. The smashes and crashes plentiful. Each of us laughed really hard and found ourselves caught up in the excitement...each cheering for their own favorite.
Without a doubt, and somewhat surprising, this was the most fun we have had together in a long time.
We are so blessed to have this type of event to go to. As for me, the Demolition Derby at the Peanut Festival is a must see for next year.
