Me Want Cookies....Awww Nom Nom Nom!

Don’t you just love the cookie monster? I know I did when I was little. I love the way he’s always hungry and when it came to cookies, forget about it. Some children seem to be a lot like the cookie monster. They can devour food almost as soon as it hits the plate. I thought I ate fast but when my boys want to they can inhale food at alarming rates…seriously! I am sure most kids have this amazing ability when it comes to things they really want to consume.

Check this out. Children also get that hunger for God just like you do. Children, just like you, get that hunger through the week too. That’s right. Kids think about God through the week. Wow right! Kids get just as hungry for God during the week as anyone else. Truth is many kids only get to hear and talk about the Lord on Sunday’s. How sad=(

Over the years I have talked to so many children where God was non-existent Monday through Saturday. Yet they were there every Sunday morning. Moms and Dads sometimes don’t realize that their children desire much more about God than they may get. That their children can sometimes go hungry for God all week long but not say anything.

Here is word of encouragement. First, if you are hungry for God during the week. Grab your bible and go…”Awwww Nom Nom Nom”. Eat it up, read it up, and live it up. If you have children or there are children in your life, they will see this and it will feed them too. Many times the key for children is just seeing the bible being read during the week. This will make the message on Sunday so much more real for them. It’s important that the special people in a child’s life take the bible and God serious, not just the people at church. Second, if you sense or see a hungry child, read to them or have them read to you. It will fill you both so much.
You don’t have to read a hundred books to know that the best investment a person can make is the investment of your time with God each and every day. This principle is just as true for our children. Take a closer look at the children in your life. They just might be standing by, ready, eager, and hungry, to hear more about God?

  1. Such a good Word! When my kids were little, we read Children's Bible stories and Proverbs for Kids to them every night before bed. We read other stories, too, but always finished with a Bible story. When they got older, they read stories to us! They saw us read our Bibles during the week, but they had their own "time with Him" each night. Teaching kids the value of reading their Bibles Monday-Saturday bears lasting fruit.

Today, our kids are all serving at church and youth group, and continuing to build their relationships with God. There's no greater gift we can give our kids than a rich spiritual heritage.

Great message for parents. Thanks for all you do for the kids of Crossroads, Pastor Matt & Hollie!!
